This is a different fault to the one discussed on similar named thread
Basically mine stopped working with a "tank full" light even though the tank was empty ( I was using continuous drain hose anyway)
I suspected the magnetic level switch which is easily accessed on the inside left of the water tank compartment

There are actually two reed switches in series and the magnet in the polystyrene float in the tank keeps them closed when tank is empty. As the level rises the magnet moves away and they open which stops the unit working and lights the alert lamp

Meaco were singularky unhelpful. They wouldn't supply a new reed switch, citing health and safety for DIY repairs even though my son in law is a certified sparky! They wouldn't tell me where I could source them or the specification. There only offer was to repair it for £80 plus carriage each way

Needless to say a similar sized reed switch is available on eBay for 75p and five minutes with a soldering iron has it all back in operation

Meaco - great dehumidifier; lousy customer service.

Hello

Not sure if you will reply after all these years!

I have this humidifier and my partner cleaned the water tray and damaged the white stick above the polystyrene square with the magnet on it. Im guessing this is the magnetic reed switch?

Basically what is damaged is the plastic think on top of the polystyrene float is bent but im also not sure if the magnet is also no longer working or become de-magnitised.

Would you be able to tell me how you fixed it?

As i cant afford the £80 charge. Might as well buy a new one anyways!

Many thanks!!!

Still here! Now a proud owner of two of these machines!

the switch is inside the body of the dehum. The float is literally just a block of polystyrene with a magnet in it You can make a new one with a sharp knife and cut it from any large enough piece of polystyrene packing you can find!

what is the symptom of the fault?
