7 years bad luck question....

I have taken a small hammer to mine for the same reason (backing showing through at the edges). A scraper blade on a multitool made quick work of the pieces and glue (wear gloves and collect the pieces in a wheelbarrow). I’ve ordered a predrilled new mirror so that next time it’s easier. Get safety backed mirror glass. Good luck (mine’s obviously gone for 7 years - hey ho)

you can buy a wire saw for not much money, it is the same thing non military fantasists like to tell you is a deadly weapon. Get one with wooden handles rather than metal rings if you can. As for garottes and all that, you need a fairly passive/unconscious/ tied up target, Or to be big, expert, cat like - and lucky, to make one work like in the comic books.

I have a sheet of mirror finish stainless (2mm, I think) behind my stove. It makes a very good mirror, with remarkably little distortion,

I have used 6" self adhesive square mirror tiles (IKEA) in a matrix on the heads door.
They work as a combined mirror, but flex between the joints so they don't break
