6hp Tohatsu - 3.5 tonne Centaur - speed through flat water

I am sure there's a hearty song in there in the making too

We sallied forth, we hit the Firth
The wind and tide they did their wortht
Oh how we sailors swore and curthed
The night we went to Pentland

Vibration! Is the propshaft bent or
Have we hit our trusty Centaur
On a floating log or tendaur
Crossing o'er the Pentland

Stop the lump! Start up Tohatsu
Pull the string with great dispatch - you
Need to miss the fearsome Stacks who
Lurk beside the Pentland

Hear the humming four stroke - regal
(almost better than a Seagull)
Covering another league al-
ong the way the Pentland

So let us hail the outboard motor
Lobsters lines don't make us fraught or
Halt our counterclockwise potter
As we cross the Pentland.

Hi Dylan

We had much the same set up as you on our Macwester 26 with dodgy stuart turner. It worked very well even when punching through the tide in the Hurst narrows !. It also very usefull getting in or out of tight spaces if you can vector the thrust.

I would warn about two problems -

1) I lost several hats leaning over the stern to move the gear lever.

2) I nearly lost my thumb in the outboard bracket hinge letting the engine down, tie a rope to the engine, run it over the push pit rail and lift or drop the engine on the rope i.e keep your fingers clear.

Good luck

Ay thang yew. Coming next: The Ballad of Preston Docks

Chorus

Perhaps we'll exploder 'er
Or use a low-loader
We'll launch that old boat or
Die in the attempt

A Scots herring drifter
Needs money to shift 'er
A big crane will lift 'er
For five grand well spent

For a fiver I'll play the accompaniment on my accordion. For a tenner I won't.

Sorry but been at my "mother in law" for the last four days and have lost touch with real world as bl**dy Vodaphone have shut down my "non expiring" Mobile Dongle so could not get on the net and had to listen to the old witch blabbering on for what seem like half a lifetime.

I can't find the results of the outboard test and I cant find the video, can anyone point me in the direction of either.

Thanks
