69 Signs You Live On a Boat

I like the one about reverential ducttape, Jimmy Buffetts songs and ... they forgot, when your dinghy is worth more than your car.
When you can name your dinghy but not your car...subversive all, I tell ya's

Yes, I've had a few questions about bruises too!

A female friend of mine, as well.

Funny how nobody seems to ask men the same questions! Is it because they assume that men can't suffer domestic violence, or that women don't do sports that result in bruises? :)

SWMBO has been warned about what she says about the numerous bruises she'll no doubt be developing! She bruises at the slightest graze and on the boat she seems to bump into just about everything!

Lol, that is so true.

SWMBO only has to walk past a picture of a boat to get a bruise. With 2 daughters that seem to be going the same way I'm expecting social services to come through the door fairly soon.

Used to race dinghies with SWMBO. She had to wear long sleeves at work to keep the bruises covered, even in summer.

Anyone else recognize individual birds? Some are easy, the goose with the damaged wing, others more subtle, like that grumpy coot who glares at you and won't get out of the way til the last moment, looking for a fight just cos you want to walk down the pontoon. :)

Or noticing the boat get a bit restless as a weather front goes through then calm down again afterwards with the last gusts.

Lets face it, houses don't do much do they??

Over 20 years ago my sister had troubles explaining to her games teacher, after a weekends dinghy sailing light winds roll tacking bruises up the inside of her legs...

Without wishing to drift into a musical debate, no matter how much time I spend on the boat drinking margaritas, "previously asinine Jimmy Buffet songs" remain unchanged. I think this is a firmly cultural thing which we Europeans will simply never get.
