Hi, does anyone know where I can get some of these?

I've tried locksmiths locally but they just sell large shackle locks which are quite expesive and too big for my locker latches.

Thanks

Mike

What about using combination locks? Often you can change the numbers easily. No pesky keys to break off either.

Plastimo used to make them. Try any chandler. I have had a set of 3 for about 8 years and they are excellent.

I got three matched locks from B & Q. later when I had a problem with one of them they were reluctant to replace and offered me a single replacement with a different key - not much good. Being a grumpy old man I remonstrated, saw the manager and received three matched replacements so satisfaction in the end. Still doesn't help you with your quest for 6.

Those Plastimo's look good value. I have 9 year old Plastimo's on my boat and they are still in daily use. They don't like dumping in salt water - but who does!

Try Abloy, had them on the last boat and they could supply new locks for the existing key or replacement keys. Also used in the hatch lock that used to be supplied through Moody's, cant remember the brand and have sold the boat but good gear.

I bought 6 padlocks with the same key from a locksmith called Executive Security in Oxford
Make Corbin, bright chrome type finish
They have been on the boat for a year and half, no corrosion problems.

I think they are quite common probably available in your town, keyed alike to special order only takes a week or two to get them.

Keys are a pain. There is always the fear of losing them, mislaying them, dropping them in the oggin or with multiple keys the risk that one of them might end up in the wrong hands. Many years ago I opted for a combination lock padlock system, which I can change as often as I like. Provided you keep them well greased up and clean they do the job brilliantly. Don't buy the cheapo ones though.
