I'm currently designing a 6-oar, 24ft x5ft (approx) dory which will be constructed from standard sheets of plywood. It will split into three sections which bolt together at the bulkheads.
I have seen tenders and smaller boats built on this principle.
Do any Forumites have experience method of construction and its use in larger boats and are you aware of any pitfalls.
Thanks

One tip I saw on the WBF was to sandwich a piece of card between the bulkheads. This then guides the saw when you cut through to separate the hull sections. Though some of the Nip pull saws have no set so the card can be thin- .5mm.

There is a blog on the british backyard boatbuilders site about building one in in a confined space, then halving it.

You might want to look at Bolgers 30ft Folding Schooner. I seem to have read about Torsional problems (OK it is a sailing boat) So your bulkheads will need to be well braced as the length will multiply the loads. Lots of fastenings will help, but not ease setting up. Depends if you want to launch quickly.
