5v around the boat?

USB C is quite capable of providing power to run and charge a laptop, connect an HDMI monitor and provide USB 3 connections concurrently. It's what modern docking station use.

The USB C connector has 24 pins, many of which can be assigned to alternative functions via software negotiation . The default power supply is 5V at 500mA. Depending on the PSU capability and the device demand, both current and voltage can be increased.

USB C is a big upgrade.

... to 5 amps at 20 volts. That's probably such a small step-up it's not worth worrying about. It only increases the power output by 4000% after all.
