I think you're all misinformed... I commisioned the 558footer purely as the tender for the one on the drawing board at the moment. I'm having one or 2 problems though, the outboard engine is a bit big and difficult to manage.

Is it possible that they calculated the largest rig that they felt they could construct, and then designed a hull to fit under it? That might explain the strange length. Its not a common way to design a yacht, but I'd imagine that they were determined to have the kudos of owning the worlds largest sloop.
