503 wind generator

Is the Rutland 503 generator output ac or dc?
I have nothing out of it at the moment. Thanks for any replies.

HI shaqua,

It's output is DC. The rectifiers (to convert fron AC) are contained within the body of the unit.

The 503 has a very small output anyway. If it is not connected to a regulator or to a battery, the output will probably be abt 19vDC. This will fall to abt 14v as soon as you connect a battery to it.

Easy way to test it.

disconnect everything.
connect dc volt meter across output wires of 503.
spin turbine by hand.

you should see about 4 or 5 volts.


If no voltage out, its broke!
