5/8\"-27 nut - boaty question - honest.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a 5/8"-27 nut (not a UNC or UNF which are 11 and 18 TPI respectively). The 27 TPI thread is used in the camera and music industry (microphones, tripods, booms, etc)... but I just cannot source a simple straighforward nut from these folk. I'd be interested to know of any small engineering shop near the solent that might be able to make one as a last resort.

I had some non standard nuts made this last summer by a company called Speedflex Engineering in Stourport on Severn.
Tel No. 01299827712. I know it's no where near the Solent. However a telephone call and a fax would convey all the info. and a jiffy bag should have the bits winging their way to you in a few days. The 4 non standard nuts only cost a few pounds.

Any small engineering workshop should be able to make you one. Any amateur engineer with a small lathe should be able to as well. Pity my father is not still alive he'd have soon made one. I've still got the lathe but not the skills to go with it I'm afraid.

Try looking in yellowpages or Yell.com
