I was wondering how far out can the cell signals be received? When crossing from Port Erin, IoM to North Wales I picked up Irish 4g towers briefly, didn't test the connection though. It is a fair distance and I was using a simple old samsung Tab A tablet. When crossing the Channel though, I feel we need to be far closer to shore.

EE's and Vodafoe's map shows coverage at sea, Three publishes data only for land. I am interested how do these translate to real experience?

In the west coast of Scotland, we started with Vodafone which was best about 20 years ago. However in the last 5/6 years we've swapped to BT (EE) which has by far the best coverage of sailing areas. It is actually unusual to not have 4G (Loch Moidart, and the west coast of Jura being notable exceptions). Even got 4G half way (20 odd miles) to St Kilda.

5G, what's that?
