Re: Interesting archive file

What surprises me about the Chimet Data is that the max wave height only exceeded 2m twice around this time. I have been suspicious of the wave height figures for some time. Any comments.

Wave heights

I believe the instrumentation is on Chichester Bar Beacon (or whatever it's called nowadays) and in fairly shallow water just west of the deeper channel. Could be the water is too shallow to sustain bigger waves.

See previous post on subject. It averages over a period

Re: Interesting archive file

What is really salutary is to see just how much stronger the gust is than the average (which wasnt much over F8). To have gusts of 11 buried in that is most unpleasant.

Some of the boats in Jersey marina looked as though they were beating, they were so heeled over so much.
