Does anyone know where I could get hold of a plastic skin fitting for our cockpit drains? The straight ones give a poor angle for the hose so I'm trying to find some with a 45deg angle off the inner side of the fitting. Gone through all the suppliers that I know and drawn a blank.

Dont know about plastic ones, but you can do it with bronze - I understand that boat mortgages are easily obtainable! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Presuming that the drain outlets will be very near or even below the waterline, suggest you have a look at ASAP Supplies. You don't state the inside diameter of your drains. Have a look, on their search engine at top of page, at 402204 & 402207. These are Blakes Sea Cocks with lever and appear to have a 45 deg outlet. Being bronze they are not cheap but very safe. I can't find plastic either.

We have just put a new one in- bought it from Aladins Cave. But it was straight. Straight through the bottom near the centre.
The plastic ones are relatively cheap, maybe they have angled ones. Worth a call.

Becky, when you say straight through the bottom I hope that you don't mean a plastic one permanently below the waterline. Plastics tend to go brittle after a while and can crack when you cough!

This is why IMHO stop valves should always be metal, preferably bronze, below the waterline. With plastic I wouldn't sleep comfortably at night. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hi

Are you looking for a 45 fitting for the drain in the cockpit floor, or throught the hull?

If you already have a fitting there with a BSP thread you could buy a 45 degree female/female elbow, and then fit a straight hose tail connector to the elbow. Have a look on this site:-

http://www.aquafax.co.uk/home.html

The cockpit drains on my boat are standard household bath drains they are 1.5 inch BSP fittings with a hose tail fitting attached to them. Boat is 23yrs old and they are in sound condition. If yours are below the water line and through hull do not mix dis-simmilar metals.

Advice is free, but not always good quality!!!
