good morning,

I'm after ss blades for my classic Speich arms. Went to their webpage, got lost, couldn't find any mention on this particular fitting so haven't got a clue how to look for it. Further, doubt I'll be particularly happy paying 50 euro for a blade (haven't seen such price anywhere, but from experience I doubt it's going to be the 10euro I paid for my bwms wiper blades (ok they are plastic fantastic and I throw them away every couple of years...)

Reminds me of the 70s car setup (not surprising as it is a 70s boat) but cannot seem to find anything on the web with this fitting.
any ideas?

cheers

If you still have the blades can a new rubber not be fitted?

if I had them, yes, just have the two arms (and actually on the second one the tip where the blade is secured is broken :( )
PO had a normal black non ss arm secured with two 1/2inch circlips!!!
I'm after something slightly more elegant

cheers

thanks Alf,

however from the non-detailed sketches I'm worried that the MG series has a different locking mechanism to the ones I have. Do you remember having something like mine on yours???

cheers

have you tried the local "car parts" shop
try the older company, they migtht have some old stock or something that fits

good point, tried a couple of places but they only have the "modern" stuff. Got to go to a scrap yard and try and salvage a ss blade = not easy!

Will try some truck and old parts places and see what I come up with.

Still not sure MG series is what I want and still cannot find a closeup pic of the arm mating to the blade

Vas.... You're right .... Mine are Pantograph wipers and 500 mm blades, so a wider 80 degree swipe.... fixing principles appear similar though....

If you look at the wiper motor... it should have a series name / number (4 digit) stamped on it .... and then a double digit figure (guess between 60 and 80) which indicates the angle of the sweep.

I sent a e-mail to Speich Help with my details etc., and they came back with the information I needed... You need to do the same and let them know that your arms is the older style "Pendulum" arm and hopefully they will get back to you with the information you need. Let us know how you get on ....
