I have been to the med before and used the normal anchor\laid line to the bow and 2 stern lines ashore. I've seen mention of 4-point moorings in Croatia where I am going next month. Can anyone explain these?
I've not sailed in the med but it souds like a system found frequently in the Caribbean and some parts of Europe. you moor bows-to the quay with the usual pair of lines but the stern lines are taken to a pair of posts. You will pass between the posts as you come in and hook on to one, then after securing the bows you put a line on the 2nd post. You may be able to put the second stern line on as you come in or do it with a boathook but it may be necessary to use the dinghy or get help.
Sailed in Croatia a month ago and usually moored stern to with two warps and bow anchor. Some harbours use lazy lines as an alternative to the anchor. Don't know what is meant by the four points tho.
