3M\'s Wax Polish

I am trying out 3M’s “Marine Ultra-Performance” paste wax this year. I understand that it has a good reputation but am having difficulty in judging on the amount to apply. Unlike other polishes that I have used it is almost transparent when applied. Anybody any tips on usage?

Re: 3M\'s Wax Polish

I used it last year & it was superb. For my little 26 footer I used about half a tin. Applied in small areas, direct from the tin on a dull day, & polished it off by hand.

Mechanical devices can only make the application easier. I am going to try to cut back more this year using Farecla G3 & then the 3M polish. The shine last year was good so this year I'm expecting to need my "cool shades" all year!

Re: 3M\'s Wax Polish

3M is a fanastic long lasting polish, very easy to buff off. I have been using it for three years now. I have found the best way to apply it is with a slightly damp sponge.

Re: 3M\'s Wax Polish

Used it this month with an electric polisher (£112 from Machine Mart). Used 3M Fast Cut with sheeps wool bonnet followed by 3M Finesse and then the wax. Put it on with dry cloth. It went a VERY long way (less than a third of a tin on 31 ft boat) but needed the electric machine to get it off as it dried quite hard. End result - a new boat! See PBO October or November for article.
