I ran out of anti foul on Sunday (poor planning on my part, I thought I has a three quarters full tin from last year). Only chandlery open in Dublin charged €114 for a 3 ltr tin of cruiser uno eu. I was shocked, this seems much more than what I paid last year.

How much have the good folks of the forum had to pay?

Are cheaper alternatives as good?

Yes. I'm only wanting to compare like for like. Brand name vs sellers own name is a different thread. One we should or could discuss I guess.

I think the point well made is that they all dissolve in water and if they also stop marine growth they are working well.
My £33 Gaelforce branded allows nothing to grow in 6 months wherever its applied.
So why would I spend £80?

Not really wanting to be contentious but

If your yacht is kept in a location with very cold water, lots of fresh water input and you sail every week then your fouling might be low - whereas the anti foul is important unless an indication is given of conditions in which you keep your yacht any claims of good or bad are pretty meaningless.

If your yacht is in warm water, continuously flushed with fresh seawater and you sometimes sail but at best once every couple of months - you have a winner!

The XM is on my keel. It did very nicely for the eighteen months it was on last time..... I Used to use expensive stuff in the belief that it was better but since I started using the cheapest stuff I could find, I've found it doesn't seem to matter what brand you use, just slap on a couple or three coats and it will keep the growth at bay. We do cruise almost continuously during the summer but stop for the winter: that may have some impact.

That's because the old stuff got banned in January as it had been detected in the food chain.
