3G Coverage - Solent & Westwards.

What is the 3G coverage like in the Solent area and westwards across Christchurch Bay towards Poole? Also, does the signal deteriorate quickly as you go off-shore? What should I expect?

I got the new 4G LTE around Southampton 3G in the Solent anywhere.

Surely VIRGIN is carried on the T-Mobile/Orange network?!. Virgin is a virtual mobile operator and owns no infrastructure of its own

I didn't know that. The coverage shown for the weak and moderate signal between Swanage and the IOW looks to me to be different with T-mobile extending further offshore. The excellent, good and moderate signals appear to be similar though I don't think exactly the same. The maps are small and difficult to use, let alone compare.
