3D Superlite Twin Roundair 200 Tender - Views

I'm about to purchase a 3D Superlite Twin Roundair 200 tender to replace my used once 270 WaveEco that is proving too big and too heavy for my 25 foot boat. In an effort to ensure I'm not buying the same issue are there any who can comment on lightness, compactness (after use) and quality of these tenders.
I will use a few times in a season and keep in my lazarrette the rest of the time and periodically store on my cabin roof when on a few days trip to save deflation. I therefore need it to be light enough for one to handle and have the ability to be as compact as the factory say it is?
Help appreciated.

Definitely as light to handle as claimed but that might be a double edged sword depending on how you use it as it is more likely to be blown about. I have a 250 and so far has repacked into its original bag, but have not used in anger yet. Difficult to tell how well it will stand up in use, although the subject has come up several times in the last 3 years and owners seem OK with it.

The reason I bought it as a live long Avon fan is because I am mostly single handed, don't expect to go ashore with it much and think if I avoid running up rough beaches it should be OK. Plus it fits neatly in my cockpit locker and is light enough to lift out. You may find the 200 very small and little more than a 1 person boat if you are any size!

Great thanks. Prob a good call re size but was only thinking that a 200 was 9.2 kg whereas a 235 was 11.8 kg. might just go for 235 so I can take 2. Did you go white or black? Just trying to establish if there is a reason they seem to push the black version?

Black rather than white as does not show the dirt (hopefully). Expect the white is aimed at the Med market - the maker is French. Best deal was from Marine Superstore at Southampton Boat Show.

Maybe wrong but I thought I saw somewhere that the white was a thicker (heavier) version.. So if you want the light weight it has to be the black one..

An alternative to look at is the Excel SL series although I don't think they do a super light roundtail..

I did look at the Excel SL, it is lightweight but still 35/40% heavier than the 3D and more crutially for me bigger when folded. I think you are the same boat as me and the lazarrette has absolute max dimension of 88cm/46cm/36cm and the 3D fits well 70/40/32 but there is NO margin for error with the Excel and I suspect a typical rushed packing will leave it not fitting...
The weight thing is for the ease of being able to pull dingy into the boat but also to put it on the cabin top by myself when I'll need it later on in the day. I can handle the 30kg Waveco but end up puffed and sweating but couldn't get it on the cabin top without help, which is not ideal when heading for a nice meal ashore, at 10/12kg depending on size of the 3D (Excel 17kg) I should be able to pick it up myself as the good lady relaxes with her book ;-). I'll use it half a dozen times a season as most areas have marina/pontoon areas but the remoter areas I'm heading this season are a bit more limited.

We have the black 200 for three years. Easy two up and we have had three in it. Packs back into bag easy. Electric blower inflates and deflates in a minute or so. Was worried about damage from creases each time it is packed but no sign so far.

I am in a MF695 so the Lazzarette is a bit smaller than yours.. Haven't measured it yet but will also be looking at a point, maybe next year, for something that will fit depending on how much need we feel there is.. Will be interested to hear how you get on with the 3D round tail.. Seems to me by removing the solid transom the boat becomes not only lighter but also able to be packed smaller.. I know some say the round tail dinghy's are less stable but I am sure it beats an inflatable kayak which was our other option..

I have the 250 normal super light (non round) and it's very light, 13-14Kg from memory. Easily handled by one without engine. The outboard is equally light Suzuki 2.5hp, goes at reasonable pace one up, acceptable speed with 2-3 adults.
