33ft 80s Raceboat Restoration

Sorry but don’t have any info on the boat in Island Harbour other than seeing it while walking past a few weeks ago, it looked similar to to one in your picture, might be worth a call to them or if there’s anyone on here in that area that can take a look. It was on the right hand side just after you go through the gates into hard standing area.

Hmmm. Looks to me like you have a Scarab 33 AVS ... if it is... I’d bring it back to AUS if u don’t want it scarab fun 080.jpg

Hey everyone, ive just started the long, painful and expensive journey of restoring an old junker. Now this is my first time doing this, my dad was involved the very successful restoration of the 39ft CUV (cinzano 558). He is going to help so hopefully this wont be as bad as normal (Still expensive though im sure!)

I've attached a couple pictures below of the boat, we believe it to be a well-craft scarab but honestly dont know, there are no distinguishing features or numbers on it so i cant sya for sure.

Anyone got any ideas of what it can be other than a scarab? The side vents lead me down the Cougar route but dont think so. Any other advise other than 'dont do it' would be appreciated, im well aware of the cost of this project and the time!

From seeing it in person, i think its a one off thing built by some fella in his shed. The boat looks like it was taken from some mould maybe of a scarb or a cougar who knows, but then they pushed the transom back a few foot. You can tell because the dimensions of the boat are all over the place! Add onto this that whoever laid it up whe it was built did it as cheap as they could as the fiberglass is very very thin and the woodwork was done with some very cheap wood!

Not sure it’s eithwr a scarab or a cougar. Have you went down the donzi road ?

Really dont think its tied to a brand, none of those boatbuilder would of built a boat this poorly. As stated back a few replies ago, ive left it and honestly think its worth nothing. Its clearly some frankenstein of a boat, and im confident its never seen the water. Its probably going to sit up in that yard for a few years until the bloke decides to scrap it.
