On advice from Powerskipper, I lifted my outdrives from fully down to up a bit, then a bit more etc.
All I ever did was slow down. This was at 25 knots.
Any 330 owners out there with any thoughts, or was I just really flat out anyway
Thanks
Philf

Certainly, accepted wisdom would say that to achieve max speed, the drives should be trimmed slightly up from the zero position. In theory, trimming the drives down will put more of the hull in the water and create more drag. FWIW, I had a Sealine 305 (which is a forerunner of the 330) with AQAD31's and that would never go faster than 25-26knots wherever the drives were positioned. One interesting side effect I experienced was that, if the drives and the trim tabs were well down, the boat would 'porpoise' (bounce gently up and down) at speeds above 20knots and the boat never felt as though it wanted to track straight

My 285 is the same, trimming the legs out to about -1 has no change and any further trim slows us down, it also seems to run best with the trim tabs partialy down all the time too.

My 330/F33 with Merc B2 always goes fastest with the legs fully down. This may because I have the biggest/heaviest engines 22ohp. Fully loaded I will never see 30 knots again as I did when the boat was lightly laden. I find that whenever you make a trim change the log shows an increase in speed followed by a slight reduction. P.S. I recently inadvertently swopped my legs over and it has caused a different wash pattern and slightly better fuel consumption i.e.Hamble to Weymouth 200litres 2.25 hrs. Before 215 lt. Dave.

Oh really, well I can't imagine why that would be. You don't get L & R Bravo's, the rotation is decided by how you connect the cables at the remote control. Makes a good story though!!!!!
