In the impeller thread 30boat says he's had text vanishing-

''I did type the "not" but when I submited the post it disapeared. It'sn happening a lot recently.''

Rather odd, when I began to read his post above, it said 'It's been happening' and 'bee' then vanished as I read. Not believing my eyes I refreshed and it happened again.

Try it, post 11 http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?412034-Changing-Impeller/page2

Virus, 30boat?

Weird indeed. Might be some kind of tags on the text which cause it to vanish after a few seconds but obviously not deliberately inserted by 30boat.

Occasionally I find that when I am typing on this forum the type which appears on the screen appears to slow down and occasionally it misses a letter.
Perhaps coincidence but after going on Ebay and other sites I believe that they are attaching "cookies" and now before I write on this forum I use the excellent "free" Super-AntiSpyware which Which Magazine recommended and a few minutes ago it cleaned/removed 86 attachment's.

I found that increasing the spaces between words while editing restores the words.I don't think it's a virus but something to do with the forum.

I wonder if it's something to do with the new 'autosave' function. As an aside, does anyone know how to retrieve text from the autosave?

If you start to type a reply, the text will be auto-saved every so often. If you were then to abort the reply, but then have second thoughts and open the reply box again, you'll see a box in the bottom left of the reply area saying "Restore auto-saved content" - click on that.

I'm not seeing that happen, and there doesn't seem to be anything odd in the source code.

If you have Firefox and developer tools you'll find that the "generated source" differs from the source in that ther is a span inserted around the relevant text. Dunno wher it comes from though, HTML isn't my thing.

Possibly a 'reflow error' in the browser. Browsers often paint an element - text in this case - and then shift it or change the line lengths in the light of later calculations. It can go wrong - most often on tablet computers which sometimes increase the type size for legibility. Sometimes scrolling the page down and up again can fix the display.

I wrote my recent post on a tablet. Seeing this I turned on a laptop and, sure enough, the 'bee' vanishes.

It's something to do with 'skimlinks' - which is some sort of advertising script. I suppress it on the tablet, so I didn't see the effect.
