30,000,000,000 years old & broken

Re: Lesnes Park

Now that brought back some memories (not the sharks tooth, as such). I grew up living at the top of Gravel Hill looking down towards Bexley. Seems like an eternity ago now - I should make the effort to go back and have a wander about.

Regards, Jeff.

Re: Lesnes Park

My wife has always talked of "Shark Island" on the Deben, many years ago as a small child she used to go sailing with family friends, was taken there and collected "prehistoric sharks teeth".

For years she had decided that this was just some sort of windup, or teasing, and although we have sailed there, she has no recollection of exactly where it was, she knew they anchored off it, and took the dinghy, but had thought it was an island.

I would love to have some more detail of the location to take her back there.

Re: Lesnes Park

Hi "THE ROCKS" IS LOCATED about a mile above Ramsholt.
proceed past Ramsholt Dock the river then turns to stbd, the beach is then to stbd with a sandy cliff topped with pine trees ( Nr By 2 & 2a ). Holding is poor on stb side best to anchor on the opposite bank in mud & dinghy ashore

Re: Lesnes Park

Thansk for the further data, should have picked up on the name, but grateful to you for pinning it down a little.

We chatted on this last night, she was sure in her mind it had been an island, and in the early 50's she says they were very easy to find.
I always thought ladies of the night made up the oldest professional group, now I suppose I will just have to accept that there were lawyers out there all those years ago.
I wonder if they were taken there for ritual slaughter, or perhaps they all retired there to die, in the same way my kids always refrred to Mersea as Elephant Island
