Practice is the key. My old school pal has been a crab fisherman for 40 years and can splice two ropes together without even looking.
Lot to be said for being in the boy scouts as a kid
Not only simple splice but the main thing was rope craft in general. It makes questions like those of the op's less likely. But that is just a fact of life and if the op does not know then he should ask. We all have to learn somehowI don't recall learning to splice in the scouts though I have my 'knots' badge.
Hi,
I am trying to do 3 strand splice, but most of online resources are not that great. Is there an easy rule to follow? What I understand is after securing loop, what I really need to do, is to keep turning and tucking ropes under 'fresh' rope following '1 up, tuck under' rule, but if someone could explain it easily or give me good resource, I will be helpful.
I am doing this since I need to get mooring rope quite soon...
