3 new Sq58 flybridge seats available

Yes I was joking re. the rear ender on roundabouts.

BUT not about the need for handles on the tops of the seats. As 'JFM' said they'e useful for people walking around the flybridge while under way.

It's very similar to changing seats on a train or bus, with hand holds, passengers are less likely to stumble or trip, even at anchor. On a boat like a SQDN. 58 or even a P38, it is pretty well impossible to bump your head on these, honest. On the flybridge, these handles are a very important safety feature, and personally, I would always want them included on any fast planing f/bridge!

On the T52, the restraints are not really necesssary at all, they just add pose value.

Well I didn't say they're necessary on a T52, but I'd rather have cushions than steel around my head, if and when nosediving a serious wave.
It all depends on which kind of sea you want (or need... never say never!) to cruise, of course.
My point was simply that the much higher need for soft headrest in cars compared to boats is just a myth, albeit a rather common one. In cars, headrests are useful just in case of accidents, whilst in some boats/cruising conditions they're necessary even for "normal" usage.
Ever heard of car seats designed to allow the occupants withstand 10 G accelerations in (relative) comfort, as the ones below?
Mind, I agree that handles are also a safety feature, but I'm pretty sure that FL wouldn't have placed them as headrests if they weren't very nice, to start with.

Hi,
Just an observation here jfm........
Ref the shot of your new seats, this shows the blue (only blue on the boat) visor on the helm, there looks to be a "crud" trap there with what looks like moisture between the helm and visor where its mounted?
Could FL not have sealed this area to stop the "crud" and green stuff growing behind it?
Rob

Yep it's a crud trap. In practice not much crud gets there, but some does. It doesn't go green though - the crew removes the blue perspex with screwdriver every few weeks and cleans behind it, long before it goes green :-)

It could have been sealed but that doesn't look nice imho and I wouldn't want it sealed. Better just to have it cleaned imho

Although I have a "no blue" policy on the new boat the blue perspex is an exception which I quite like. I've just eliminated blue from canvas works, upholstery, ropes, etc. (!)

Ooh yes, great mod. Would need M4 studs welded on the bottom side of the strip, then be atrtached by nuts on the inside of the console moulding, so no screwheads showing. £1000 or so, gweep. I'll get onto it :-) I'm just busy installing a new downstairs dashboard made by the OEM in custom silver paint, cos I hated the Bentley burr walnut look (in an oak boat...come on Fairline, if I can get non-walnut from your OEM surely you could have?)!

Please don't suggest any more mods Rob - I've no time! :-)

Hi Kev Leslies back so Jollies reopens Saturday with Graham. Spec she will be putting something on, maybe even reduce prices (dont think)
