3.9k 0.25W resistor

I am not an electronics expert, but I can follow a recipe.

I need the above resistor, but Rapid Electronics sell:
PACK 100 3K3 0.25W CF RESISTOR (RC)
PACK 100 3K9 0.25W CF RESISTOR (RC)

Can I take it that the second one 3K9 stands for 3.9K?

I'm not an expert either, but I get my electronic fuses etc from the local TV repair man

What tolerance do you have? 5%?
Could you use 3X12K in parallel to give 4K?

Maplin seem pretty good...will sell individual resistors for about 3pence each
