3.0 mercruiser crankshaft question

I have a 1997 mercruiser 3.0 with a bad crankshaft and i can’t seem to find the exact casting number anywhere, does anyone know what will interchange with it ? Will any crankshaft with a one piece rear main work? Mine’s casting num 14096624

Not something that often happens to these engines, unless it’s been neglected perhaps. I’d maybe urge you to make certain that other things haven’t been damaged too.
If it helps any these are a very common engine. In fact I think they are perhaps at one time or maybe still, the most commonly installed engine ever put in a boat around the world. Same engine as the VP unit too.

When I had one buying the shortblock was surprisingly cheap even from the dealer. You may well find it's the least expensive route

What's bad about the crank? Hard to imagine it is scrap with everything else ok.
