Hello,

I'm about to replace the anodes on my 2GM20. The shop manual shows a single small gasket on the cylinder block anode and a small and large gasket on the cylinder head anode. The anodes I bought came with the small gasket. Is the bigger gasket the same as the thermostat gasket?

My other question is whether starting the engine after the winter BEFORE changing the fuel filter will cause any problems? I'm new to this and feel more comfortable making one change at a time and then making sure the engine still runs.......

Thanks in advance for your help

From memory - its been a few years since ive had a 2gm20 - The head anode has a copper washer (heat until it glows and drop into cold water and the block anode is a self sealing BSP thread - grease it and wind it back in..

Change the fuel filter and open the bleed screw on top of the secondary filter. Pump the lift pump until its air free, open the bleed screw on the injector pump feed , pump some more on the lift pump, tighten up - key switch on - full throttle - boom - go sailing!

Check the connections you bled from with paper towel for seepage.
