28ft Yacht on the LSH

[The All Weather Lifeboat was launched to the Longsands Head approximately 18 miles south east of Harwich where a 28ft yacht had run aground on the banks. The Walton Lifeboat which had launched earlier was now on scene trying to attach a tow rope but it would seem that the yacht was now floundering across the banks towards the approaching Harwich Lifeboat. The Smaller y-boat from Harwich was lowered into the water to approach the yacht but was unsuccessful in passing a tow due to the sea conditions on the bank. Harwich lifeboat eventually managed to pull her clear]

lets hope that the boat is not badly damaged and the crew are all ok.

i heard some of the conversation from the CG. & the nxt high tide was 01.00 ish.

It was towed into Shotley this morning ETA 00.15 with rudder and keel damage on a Belgian Flag when i went past the refueling pontoon at 08.30 this morning it was still aflot and with the engine running and with obvius life from down below but was concerned to the seat of his trousers drying on the boom in the morning sun maybe there was an incedent that needing washing out!!!! but the main thing is people and boat in a safe haven

Was still there afloat at 13.30 and his breeks were still draped over the boom so would seem to be salvable at least hope no one was injured.

I cut the corner at LSH in late august, and found it quite a bit shallower than charted on 2009 charts (they're on the boat so can't tell you survey date).... I suspect the bank is extending north-eastwards... take care!
