I have neighbours on my pontoon wishing to charter a small yacht at budget prices. Does anyone know where such a service exists. Thier budget is very little but wish to change from power to sail. It appears that all yachts are both larger and newer than 5 years. Is there not a market for persons who are short of cash. they have been to the local sail schools around brighton but wish to sail alone to get the feel.

Seconded. We chartered a 29ft Gibsea from them a few years ago in Croatia. Older boats than some firms, but well maintained, all the safety gear and friendly service on hand for when they go wrong.

Loch Ness yacht charters have a fleet of Westrly Centaurs, and the sheltered ,non tidal waters are an excellent place to learn saliing skills.

One often feels desperately guilty......

..when a family of five look up from the cockpit of a Jaguar 27 at just the two of us alongside in a 44footer - but not for long! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

No I jest; but they are great little boats if not by now obviously a little too long in the tooth (and the bow extension!) The one we chartered in 1978* seems no longer to be about but it's sister ships are regularly seen in various parts of the Ionian.

* In those days they (Flotilla Sailing Club) offered Jaguar 22s as well.
