Apologies, I was posting a thread on a nice 60+ m yacht which might be available at a bargain price in the near future, but on second thought I didn't want to deceive anyone yet...

Now, why on earth a thread with no replies can't be deleted :confused:
 
It's now public domain that the boat of Briatore has been seized.
What was not clearly mentioned so far are the reasons - also in the YBW article linked above.
According to what I heard through the grapevine, the authorities are arguing that the boat is actually privately owned by... ermm... her owner, which should have therefore paid VAT on both the boat and the fuel formally purchased for charter business.
In other words, the formal structure of a charter company owning the boat was considered as designed for tax elusion purposes, whilst the "substance over form" clearly shows that the boat is owned by a private individual for his own pleasure.

My guess is that, with most EU governments in need to cover their deficit, this is just the beginning...
