One boat not mentioned so far is the Achilles 24. Based on a racing dinghy they're lean and light, making them a fast boat. Full sitting headroom down below but quite adequate for the family to sleep on board. Plenty of good ones available at £5k or thereabouts, down to £3k for cheap ones. They have the outboard in a cockpit well, so easy to maintain.

I have one and it's perfect for my purposes and I think it should go on your list.
