224s petroly niff

Further to Chris's advice on how to get at niffy fuel and breather hoses on me 224 Holiday...found 'em last night..but as Chris advised me, I did indeed have to assume a Kama Sutra-like position to actually touch them....
Do fuel/breather hoses gradually degrade and allow petrolly niffs to permeate thru??

Hi Maxwell
A fuel hose should never permeate or perforate, unless its been crushed, cut , split, chaffed or was faulty in the first place, if it is a genuine article it would have to be made to British standard.
It is far more likely that the hose has gradually deteriated at the points where it is secured to the pumps, carbs, tank etc.
IMHO if there is a petrol pong, replace all the pipes, there not that expensive, but the peace of mind will be well worth it.

The fuel tank, where the niff is is under the aft berth...ni leak from tank..just pipe, near point of attachment to tank..mainly from breather hose.
