Little help guys please .
I need to replace all four engine mounts on a 2030 Volvo engine .
this is a job I never done on a boat many times on cars tho.
although very stright forward
here my question .
setting up the engine .
other then measuring the distance where the old mounts sat on the engine ( nuts heights ) any thing else to help the job go smoothly ?

Measure the distance between the hull mounting point of the engine mountings and the engine beererss for each mounting . You can then adjust the new mountings to the same dimension as a starting point

What sort of shaft seal have you got?

If something like the Volvo shaft seal, it's worth moving the prop shaft up, down and side to side to then ensure you locate it centrally to the stern tube.. Then line the rear of the engine up with that.

Thanks what I plain to do ,
problem is if one of the mounting collapsed which is one reason I’m asking the question .
im sure once I start to work on it I work it out , but better for warned about something some one has already come across .
makes life easy :)

"Anything else to make the job go smoothly?" I don't think so.

As I'm sure you know, you are going to have to check and adjust the alignment whatever you do. There's a choice about the starting point - try and replicate what's there already or start-from-scratch. I've tried both ways with my VP2003 - perhaps I was doing something wrong but there was little practical difference in the resulting alignment effort.

Step one buy several spanner’s, crows feet and other other options. It’s an easy job but you’ll be doing it in a tiny box full of pipes cables and other bits and bobs. When I had to raise mine recently I was turning a nut 1/8 turn at a time for what felt like 6 hours, and that was when the weather was cool and dry not hot and humid!

Last time I changed the mounts on my Perkins M30 (same engine) I took the weight of the engine on a car jack and instead of fiddling around with crow bars and bits of wood, I took the whole bracket off the engine, mount included and replaced the mount once off. It was certainly easier and quicker than the first time I changed them. I used 55 shore and 45 hardest to the rear. Parts 4 engine's supplied.
Hope this makes sense.

Ok so here my question , on the rear mounts there a bolt (21) that seen to go through the mounting plate ,
is that bolt only got at tho the hole in the side of the engine bed ?
OR is there a reset under the plate which the bolt sit in and will come away with the mount?
in other words I don’t have to fiddle about in the hold to remove the bolt first .

You have to remove the two bolts holding the mount to the bed, at least on my boat you do. They are ordinary bolts with nuts underneath, is this what you are asking?
My engine beds are just ordinary 90x90x8 mm angle iron

Ok not the same bed ,
mine is GRP under each mounting there a hole in the side just probably big enough to get a bit of a turn on the spanner.
inside the hole you can just about feel a bolt ,
so what I was asking , is the bolt that goes through that then thought the engine mount plate ,
do it has to be removed before the plate will come away or does it have to be remove through the small hold first .
the reason I’m asking is because if it need to be remove first I need to get some blue tack so it stick to the spanner, otherwise I can see it disappearing in a black hole .
im sure it all come to light once I start to work on it , but the whole reason for the posting is so I’m awe what I’m going to fined .
Bolt 21 .
