2017 Bmth Air Festival maritime safety zone

Let's hope all boaters comply with the request and keep outside the exclusion zone. If they don't, it will be a no-fly zone and the aircraft will go home...:(

Is it worth it this year? I see a few favorites are not flying at the weekend, BMF, Chinook, Red Arrows (Sunday) and the Typhoon. The best day appears to be Saturday for both the Flying and Weather. Happy to be corrected.

10m depth will make it interesting and hopefully it won't be another Dartmouth.

Chinook will be there and Red Arrows every day. BBMF are still grounded for elfen safety. You can insert your own WWII, 100,000+ engines produced, over 100,000,000 civilian air miles flown post-war, etc. type comments. No idea why the Typhoon isn't displaying although it's claimed there are commitments in Scotland for the display team. Once upon a time every Squadron had at least a couple of qualified display pilots:( Not impressed with £8 for "programme" which is usually mostly adverts either.

my screen background on my laptop is a picture of the Red Arrows in formation over Bournemouth Pier. Best display team in the world and a wonderful location. I have fond memories of the Red Arrows in Dartmouth too and before then over the inland lake at South Cerney I dinghy raced on near their base then at RAF Kemble, Glos. Several crew and air traffic controllers also belonged to the club and we often got 'buzzed' by them on the water:eek:

We get the US display teams over us here in Daytona but they are all noise rather than superbly choreographed aerobatics. Blue Thunder they call themselves I think and the septics really love the noise and might they show off, but no competition for the real kings.Carl Draper.jpg

Went today with several hundred others in boats, (and thousands on the beach !)
Well worth it, the chinook was especially good :encouragement:
The Reds were down to 8 which was a pity, still a good show tho.
