2016 Almanacs

It's about a 6 month production cycle to bring out a new edition, which is largely established by May.

Yes, the plan is to have the book ready for the Southampton Boat Show. The story is told on http://www.theca.org.uk/almanac/corrections.

But meanwhile, corrections still come in, and when the Almanac goes on sale, "Corrections 1" is available. Every couple of months or so, a new edition of corrections is produced. They can be downloaded from the above link.

By now, a further record number of reports have already been received from members through CAptains Mate App. Items relevant to the 2016 Almanac are included the Corrections 1 (or corrections 7 for 2015 Almanac).

So if one of the 5,000 members of the CA have been there within the last couple of months, things should be up to date with Corrections 1, and by January, we'll be into Corrections 3.

Other brands are available.... ;)

Given it's almost four months before the tide tables became current I have always been happy to wait until nearer the time before buying. For the 'typical' boat owners who perhaps doesn't commission until Easter it is nearly eight!

Ah, but it means I can stand planning my Spring outings before Christmas. :o

How about the comments on the Rye / Newhaven thread, where people know of significant errors - inc the Rye harbourmaster who has reported them more than once apparently ?

I couldn't tell which year's issue they were talking about, but I'll check in a couple of weeks when I'm back in UK and have access to the library. The 2010 issue is correct!

I wouldn't call presence or absence of mooring buoys "significant". They do come and go with little notice, so it's arguable whether they should be mentioned in some places.

As to "why Newhaven?". It's approachable in all tides, and nearly all weathers. So, when beating to the SW, it makes a very useful stop to sit out a tide or two. Agreed, not pretty, but serviceable and cheap.
