I know there are not many of these in the UK, or in the U.S. for that matter. Attached is a pic from last weekend. Overall, the boat has met all of my expectations. Fuel economy with the air step hull and stern drives is only 12 gph, per engine, at 2750 rpm on plane. My previous gas boat was almost double that. Cheers.

I really like this model and also the mc42 previous to it, I love the full width master cabin, tender garage etc I think its a very well set out boat and would suit my life style perfectly

Having owned an MC42 for 4 seasons - I can absolutely confirm that the layout works. The cabins are very comfortable, and feel spacious, plus there's plenty of storage. She cruises very pleasantly at displacement speeds and at 18 knots is still (comparatively) frugal with a 30+ kt top speed. The tender garage works well, we keep a 3.1 rib in ours and use an electric inflater to pump it. All that and a few weeks ago in Alcudia we were able to seat eight people around the large cockpit table for a barbecue lunch.

with these positive comments why has the MC42 in Swanick not sold yet its up with Acaster now but has been for sale for ages, It does now say under offer but why so long ???

I looked at the MC42 at Ancasta Swanwick about 6 months ago, and spoke to Dickies staff at last years boatshow about it (they were marketing back then). Apparently the original buyer sent it to the med, but every time he went down there to use it something went wrong with the engines/drives. In the end he had enough and handed the keys back. I was told at the time that there was a really good deal on it if a cash buyer.
Apparently the problems were to do with the ECU's which have now been replaced.
I don't think it helps that the boat has been wrapped in Grey vinyl, when I looked at it, the wrappers were halfway through doing it, one side was red, the other grey, I thought that would be quite cool to have, too looks in one boat!!
The buyer I had lined up for mine at the time fell through so I took in no further, but I agree great boat.

Good to hear some other folks on here are enjoying the same model (MC42).

I am a previous Sea Ray owner. As with anything in life, there are negatives and postivies with every boat, and it comes down to personal preferences. The key aspects for us was the trunk (we carry paddle boards, etc), salon layout for the admiral, and fuel economy. Negatives, the salon and cockpit interior is less substantial than others boat in class. The fuel filters are ****, and located in a poor spot to service, so I am having these replaced with dual Racor 75900. I will post some pics of this laeter. I also want to beef up some of the electronics over the next few years.
