I thought I would split up my cruise this year in a futile attempt to hit some good weather!!!
Having had a nice ish week on the Orwell and Deben, I now have two weeks to pootle round to the Blackwater, Crouch, Thames, and Kent.

So, off down to the boat today to get sorted then off to Brightlingsea and Blackwater for first few days maybe take in the delights of Tollesbury etc.

Then a jaunt round to Chatham for a look round the old dockyard.

No trip would be complete without paying my respects to the Belgian Bar in Ramsgate followed by nipping down to Dover for a look round the castle and war rooms again, possibly a swift trip to Calais.

(Is the lock at Calais operational?)

If anyone is about, please come and say hi:)

Just thought I would take my time with a bit of local cruising for a change rather than some mad dash down channel constantly worrying about getting weather bound somewhere. 'Spose I could still get stuck in Kent, but at least it's only a day sail home!

There was also a link to the opening times.

Hope that helps.

If you get stuck over there you could do as we did and hire a car for a day or two.
There are some great WWII sites in the area.

try this one

Also have a look at the other places linked to on that site.

AVIS hire shop in the far corner of the 1st square you come to heading into town.
