I'm considering buying a 2008 Arimar 280 Jet tender. Apparently the boat was a customer rejection back then and is sitting with the Dealer since. The boat was never used and I don't even know if the have started the engine back then.

Does anyone have any experience what needs to be done to the engine after such a long period of no usage. Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

I would say it very much depends which engine it has (2008 is on cusp of the switch over from the ubiquitous yam 83hp 2T to 4T engines) and what conditions it has been stored in. The Yam 2T is likely fine if stored indoors/dry for 6 years and has no pump impeller add-ons to worry about. You could stick a scope down the spark plug holes if you wanted a look athe surfaces condition. In contrast the Weber 4T that replaced it in many jetboats was much more complex, with seawater intercoolers, seawater main heat exchanger, pumps and stuff, all of which could need a tidy up if left standing 6 years. TBH I have no idea what Arimar used then or now but it would be good to establish which engine this one has for starters

You need to be very careful with these jet tenders. Apparently they don't like being in the south of France. You might find it goes better in Italy. :D:D

[/injoke, sorry]

I bought an Arimar RIB with o/b motor about 4 yrs ago and to be honest I haven't been impressed with it's quality. Check it out carefully
