I have a 21' Regal cabin boat w/ a 4.3Gi V6 Volvo engine. The boat had been stationary for 2-3 years. In the beginning I drained the gas out of the tank, added new gas, changed the filter, installed (2) new batteries. The oil looked clean so no new oil was added. I had a hard time getting it started thinking there was possibly some water in the lines, so I took all the lines off blew them out, took off the fuel pump cleaned the screen at the bottom which had some residue on it. Finally got it running but seemed to be starving for fuel. I took off the carb. sent it to be rebuilt, in the meantime I replace the whole fuel filter/pump module, drained the tank again, added new fuel and added seafoam to help clear up any water that might still be hanging around.
When the carb. arrived it was reinstalled, went over everything to make sure it was all intact. I checked the batteries for full charge. I tried starting and at first it took a couple of cranks. Once it started, I noticed it was flooding and causing it to smoke. So, before I wasn't getting enough fuel, now I'm getting too much. I have talked to several people that had suggestions but so for nothing has worked. So, here's what I have done:
cleaned the tank
replaced filter and pump
replaced (2) vacuum hoses
rebuilt the carb.
changed plugs (6)
Checked compression
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I can try short of a $100 an hr. mechanic?
Thank you
