2000 Astondoa 46 in Benalmadena, Spain called ACEDO

As a matter of interest, what is the general opinion of Astondoa? Other than being Spanish I know nothing about them but there are several on the market.

loads of Astondoas around Spain. Built in Santa Pola just south of Alicante. Built like brick outhouses. Interiors tend to be a mix of Azimut/Sunseeker with a Spanish twist.
I was looking at an Astondoa 43 - everything is seriously solid - like walking around on concrete.
Good boats, great value for money.

We are looking now, for something sensibly priced around 46'. I do like the FB on them, have a couple of tentative offers in, I quite like the Pearl too at Burton Waters, but a bit overpriced in my opinion especially if I deliver to SCM. Like the Azi's too but the Asto 46 looks just right for us.

this one has been for sale for a while, galley up in the lounge so unusual. Think its had new turbos
might be worth a cheeky offer

Yes galley up in saloon not ideal - but you could probably loose the table in the saloon with the dinette opposite the helm were the galley usually sits...… SWMBO likes the 'other' galley arrangement, otherwise I may be delegated as cook ;-(

Hi Pete,

Worth a shot if you could get the owners email from the boat, or the marina, or pass on my email to them which I think you already have...…!

It’s a bit unfair on the broker if you have seen the boat on their web site

Something else to consider.
Rumours over post Brexit (sorry the B word) from the CA are that boats in the UK after Brexit day (whatever that will be) might need to be imported into the EU.
Not my rumours - I don't think anyone knows at the moment but if this is the case, then it would be better to buy a boat already located in EU waters.
That would make the Pearl even more expensive - not just the shipping costs.

I do agree but its up on numerous boat sites at the moment so no one broker has been engaged at this time. I do like the protection of buying through a broker (excluding usual small print), I purchased my last two boats that way! However, it would be nice to open dialogue with the owner, albeit they may be reluctant which is why they broker it in the first place! Thanks for your comments though.

Thanks Mike - yes I have been following the utter fiasco that is Brexit. I know some in SCM are considering re-flagging UK as Dutch boats!

I have several offers in for Astondoa-46s (my preference) and also an Azi-42 (not my old neighbour) and two clean Astondoa-43's one of which is a 2005, although I have my heart set on the 46's at the moment.

The Pearl is not a strong favourite, you may recall in 2010 I bought a 2001 model for £120k from EBY but it failed when sea-trialled, this one also has problems, so its an unlikely contender!

Hi John,

It's just the broker that's by my boat, the actual boat I think is in the other Altea port to mine. Also, I'm not sure when I'll be out next (I managed to leave booking flights too late).

However, the guy that looks after my boat is based in Altea so I've asked him if he knows it.

Cheers, Pete

Why aren't you considering also the Azi 46, if I may ask?
While I can't say that they are up there among my preferred builders, frankly speaking I'd have an Azi rather than an Astondoa any day of the week.
And their 46 is one of their best models, btw.

The Astondoa 46 is a Nuvolari Lenard design. I think when it launched (1999) it felt the the less spacious of the 14 meter flybridge range.
The Azimut 46 and Ferretti 480 felt the most spacious at the time, followed by the Phantom 46. The Princess where a bit short handed with the new 45 back then which of my mind launched in 2001.

Still the Astonoda 46 like the Ferretti (and in reality slightly smaller) had three proper cabins (no bunk berths).
Build like a brick is an over statement for all the above boat's but yes they are build good and do not break in a chop if that is what you mean.
Check for some osmotic blisters but the rest should be okay.
