2 stroke mix

On a recent flight having a whisky, noticed that the mini bottle was 5cl, filled twice with 2 stroke oil would give 50:1 mix for 5 /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.giflitres of fuel.Good excuse to buy 2 whiskies on your next flight!!

Or, you could use the benecol containers - filling to the "shoulder" on the container gives you about 75:1 ratio - these don't break and require a less steady hand to fill.

I seem to remember that used 35mm film canisters gave something like 50:1 on 5 litres.

I think not. They're about 30cc which I make it 133:1 in 5litres

[/ QUOTE ] The one I have to hand contains 35.8 cm³ when brim full. In 5 litres that will make a mixture that is 137:1 but they may vary.

I use a baby's feeding bottle. Wide mouth, and graduations all the way up the side. Obviously I don't use the rubber teat, before some smart*rs* jumps in....

I use the cap off the petrol can:

Read the litres of petrol off the pump, and add the appropriate number of cap-fulls of oil. (The writing says 50:1 = 1 cap full / litre if you can't make it out.)

I have a bottle in which the 2stroke oil was bought. It has a natty container molded into the top of the bottle with a seperate lid. You squeeze the main bottle until the top container is full 100ml. Any overflow runs back into the main bottle. You remove the cap on the 100ml part and pour into the tank. Do it again for another 100ml.
Take off the main cap to refill the bottle.
Is 2 stroke oil not available in this kind of bottle anymore? Or was it never used in UK? Mine is so old and I havn't bought 2 stroke oil for 15 years. My motor doesn't get much use like not in the last 3 years.

My mix is 100:1 so a 35mm film container makes 3 ltrs, I also use a 1 ltr milk container for the petrol.

[/ QUOTE ] I know what you mean but I have not seen it for two stroke oils. The bottles all seem to have graduations but the accuracy using them for small volumes would be poor.

A certain (cheap) brand of Gin currently comes with a 50ml measuring cup. At this rate the gin doesn't last too long so for 5l you are soon left with a perfect 100:1 measure .... or 50:1 if you use two. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
