i hope this is a simple one line answer, question!

If I prime my GRP hull using Hempel Light 2 pack primer paint, can I use a different manufacturers 2 pack paint as the finishing coat, e.g International Perfection?

Simple one line answer. Read the manufacturers data sheets.

Thank you, nowhere can I find out what constitutes information on the compatibility of paint types between manufacturers. I don’t have a technical or scienticic background. I’m aware 2 pack paint can’t be painted onto single pack paint and that’s about it. But I wanted to find out whether 2 pack paint from different manufacturers can (generally speaking) safely be painted over each other?

Generally a 2 pack paint will harden to a hard impervious finish. So if under coat has hardened fully then nothing applied on top will soften it of affect it. On the other hand if the under coat has not fully cured there might be an intention to chemically bond the next coat. So you need a similar chemistry paint to bond. We might imagine any polyurethane paint would bond ok but really for confidence you would use a top paint part of the paint system. (hempel) ol'will

Some paints actually interact with the hardened primer (e. g. Velox prop paint), but over 5 decades of using 2-part primers I've never seen any problems when applying various paints on top. Many, including myself, applied Hammerite Special Metals primer before Velox with good result.
Primers actually can be used as isolating barrier between products that are (suspect of being) incompatible.

However must agree to doing the homework before starting. Read...
