2 Hour stop, how much?

We had a little sail from Southwold up to Lowestoft and back today.
We stopped off at the Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club to get some fish and chips and once eaten we left.
Only one other boat on the visitors berths .

Cost £5.00 landing fee.

Is this about right given our length of stay, didn't even have time to use facilities etc.

or am I just out of touch?

I've only stopped overnight - last year was £14 (8m)
I sort of assumed the visitor berths weren't charged for a short stop - I wonder if its free if you use their bar?

Halfpenny pier is looking even better now.

couple of years ago - on one of the "girls' weekends" - we were charged a £5 for picking up a buoy at fambrige .... so that Karen could breastfeed Esme!

They charge the same to pick up a buoy at West Mersea for a lunch stop.

All unfortunately rather common. Bradwell short stay used to be a contribution to one of their charities but last year it was a charge - can't remember how much though....

There used to be a guy in West Mersea that lived on one of the houseboats, and when he saw a visitor come in he would motor out and find them a buoy and pocket the charge - maybe he still does

ah, well, while we are at it - how about £28 for 9 hours in Chatham...?
We got into the berth at about 11pm and was out again by 8am the following morning.

If he does then there is a risk of being fleeced twice as YC collects now on behalf of the harbour (whatever the arrangement is). Used to go to West Mersea several times in a season, pick up a vacant mooring, row ashore for a beer in YC and then have something to eat there or in town. Now as they want £10 for the night it makes it rather expensive when split between just me so I don't go and as a consequence I don't spend money in the town either. In use Moorings are paid for anyway so just don't get it why there is a need to try and get them to pay twice. Town loses out. For an extra £6 I can walk ashore, get a shower, fill up with water.

Appreciate that and in a strange way it doesn't bother me for marinas , but it always used to be different for moorings and that is why it annoys me!

According to their blurb Queenborough charge a full £20 after 20 minutes on the ATL, no way of enforcing in the past but now the Harbourmaster is at the end of the ATL who knows?
