1st time sailing to ostende

Silver ann

The penny drops now.
Yes you know me im right infront of your mooring. (red and white jeanneau).
Me and John Sawyer went to Brightlingsea over bank hol weekend couple weeks back.
Got caught in bad blow off Mersea, blowing 35 knots at times.
In end pulled in Pyefleet creek on Sat,and could not make it out till bank holiday monday.
Took us long time to get home to the river, though we were well reefed down.
45 hours being blown about on mooring in the creek gets to you in the end.
Phil from our club (Bogangles) also pulled in, so it felt like 3 marooned sailers.
By the way, put your dogers on, you have a nice set.
Prob going pirate next weekend, leaving moorings 5 am ish, if work and crew permiting.
See you down club, or on the river.:D:D

As I sent the post I thought fantasy was jeaneau not beneteau!
Yes we had it gusting up to 36 knots, we had the genoa unfurl at one point. Which made it rather interesting for a while, but with the genoa furled into a storm jib and 2 reefs in the main, she sailed through it fine. I wouldn't have wanted to be coming back from ostende in it though. I can imagine what chattinglil was going through!
I did notice fantasy wasn't there when we got back. Wondered where you might be, glad you guys got through it ok, was phil single handed again?
Catch up soon
Mik

yes well, it was not comfy but we were doing ok until the fuel crisis! As someone else mentioned on my other thread - had we had another spare can of fuel we would got in eventually, tired and battered, but it would have been a non-event.

It's when things go wrong in that kind of weather, then it becomes very unpleasant.
Its great that you posted an account of your incident, it has enlightened alot of the need to calculate our fuel needs with greater regard to conditions and supply.

Regards
Mik
