Dear all

I managed to drop the fuel cap from my outboard the other day.
Gone forever.

The outboard is fairly new to me.
1999
2hp Johnson Tohatsu
Model no J2 Reec.99

I am struggling to find a good source of parts.
There are some USA based sites but shipping will cost and there is likely to be a longer delivery time.

This site seems good but has nothing for my specific model.

The closest visual match I can come up with is the 2003 2.5 hp model

I need an impeller too.

the 2003 model looks almost identical so I may well risk it and order from that catalogue.

Where do you go for parts for your ancient but still reliable outboards?

Thanks

Tried Chertsey Marine or Winsor Marine Services (Camberley) ? both are Tohatsu dealers

A US site but a good resource for investigation:

http://www.marineengine.com/parts/e...ohnson-evinrude-model-number-guide-00005.html

Your model seems to be there, click on it for an illustrated parts index.

I think that your model is not the same as the common Tohatsu, Mercury, Mariner, Force, and Nissan 2.2 and 3.5 clones but has a lot of similarities. So I would not bank on parts fitting. The UK agent mentioned above would know.

And you find that the fuel tank cap is "unavaialble" :( I'd still try Oakley first then the Tohatsu dealers

Phone Tohatsu UK, give them you engine serial number and model and they will tell you the part number.

Or they might say those are not Tohatsu numbers!

J2REEC is a Johnson model number!

We can look the part numbers up in the parts lists anyway!
