1990 Yamaha 55hp: Gas-Oil Ratio?

I am looking for the correct gas-oil ratio for an outboard 2-stroke Yam 55 approx. a 1990 model. It's hard to find anyone who has any knowlegde re: this type of engine.

50:1 sounds correct but if still worried pop into your local Yam service center and ask them - have the serial number and model number at hand when you do.

I should add my 55 is the origin model, got it new 1991, the fuel tank that came with it was marked 100/1 but the book said 50/1, got in touch with yam they said 50/1 which it what I have always used and it still runs like new.

It figures as round about that time there were engines running on 25:1, 40:1, 50:1 and 100:1, depending on the make and model. I think it was around that time that the 100:1 was becoming semi common hence my advice to contact the local YAM service center armed with the model and serial number - "to be sure, to be sure", so to speak.
