A BBC documentary on the life of a UK coaster. I spent quite a bit of time sailing with my father, a chief engineer, on vessels like this, a bit larger, James Fisher and Sons heavy lift vessels, Robertson's "Gem Line", the ship in my avatar picture is the "Amber", which I spent a lot of time on. We travelled allover Europe and the UK, as far east as Italy, north to Norway. Fantastic memories.

A life mostly gone now from the UK, however, the UK coastal fleet still exists, but modern, larger vessels.

Thanks for that. Wood and canvas hatches like my first ship------that brings back a few memories of a technology that was a thousand years old in the 1980s and now forgotten.
