Greetings to all! My name is Milos and I am from Rijeka,Croatia. A friend of mine bought a Versilcraft Mystere 3 years ago. He did some woodworking repairs in Italy and last year asked me to come and check the boat's electrical system and engines. I did some of the repairs and he did put it in water in august last year. After some test drives ( well 120 miles from Italy to Rijeka ) I discovered several problems. The boat was excessively in nose up position at 20 knots and there were vibrations from both a shafts.
In autumn we brought the boat back in Italy and I dismounted props, shafts, coolers on both engines, injectors, injection pumps, sea water pumps,...
Props were balanced and rectified ( maybe not the correct term ?? ), shafts checked ok,then I remounted everything back, well, tried to remount back. Here is where the problems begin. The original engines ( Isotta Fraschini ) were removed by previous owner and he installed two Cats 3208TA 435HP with MPM IRM 301P1 1.1:1 gearboxes with parallel output flange. The engine mounts were ,to say the least , horrible. Pieces of steel welded together, engines put so close to fuel tanks that you have difficulty changing v belts,...disaster
Furthermore I discovered that the two bronze shaft supports are not the same and speaking with prop guy I assume that the boat had an incident on the right side damaging shaft support and prop. The repairs were done as they were and now it is a complete disaster.
The shafts are not parallel to the through hull passages and in order to make them parallel I have to completely cut away all of the engine supports and rebuild them. Off course, while keeping a 1000kg engine and gearbox suspended because there is no way of pulling out the engines ( the openings on the fly were screwed in place and covered with wood so no more crane access). The boat also has PYI PSS seals, and as the shafts and passages are not aligned, they are leaking seawater during travel.
So I come to my request. I have been reading the rebuilding of Mitos and I am very impressed. i was wondering if anyone has any drawings of this boat or some measurements of where the props and shaft supports should be so that I at least have something to begin with and work my way inwards?
