1961 merc type 58a

Has anyone here ever stripped and refurbished the ignition on this outboard? I am prepared to try, with a little guidance! I do have a Clymer manual, but this does not inspire confidence as it has the 350 down as a 2 cylinder and I have 2 spare!
Any offers of help or links to information most welcome.

May or may not help. I found a site the other day, maxrules.com They live in the states but seem to a lot of info on your type of engine.
The other ploy is try typing "mercury outboard" into your search engine and search the whole web.
